Mini Pizza Party
This mini pizza box is a fun STEAM-based lesson. Celebrate 100 days of school with an educational mini pizza party!

Applicable Core Standards for Grade 2
* CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.G.A.2 – Partition a rectangle into rows and columns of same-size squares and count to find the total number of them.
** CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.G.A.3 – Partition circles and rectangles into two, three, or four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, thirds, half of, a third of, etc., and describe the whole as two halves, three thirds, four fourths.
*** CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.2.MD.A.1 – Measure the length of an object by selecting and using appropriate tools such as rulers, yardsticks, meter sticks and measuring tapes.
Make the Pizza
Draw a 3-3/4" circle on a 3-3/4" square piece of Brown Riverside 3D™ Construction Paper, and cut out the circle.
Draw a 3-1/4" circle on a 3-1/4" square of Red Riverside 3D™ Construction Paper. Cut out and glue to center of Brown paper circle.
Create the pizza toppings!
- Cut cheese triangles out of Yellow construction paper
- Green squares for green peppers
- Use a Black marker to draw on olives
- Students can get creative and create their own toppings, like mushrooms, sausages, onion, pepperoni, pineapple, etc.
Divide pizza into pieces as desired.**
Make the Pizza Box
Starting with two 4" x 1/2" strips of White Construction Paper, fold each in half three times to make eight sections. Cut along the folds and glue the squares to the top of the pizza box to create a checkerboard pattern.*
Cut PIZZA letters out of a 4" x 1-1/2" piece of Green Construction Paper and glue to the pizza box.
Cut out the box template. Cut slits on solid lines, and fold on dotted lines.
Glue tabs in place to form box. Press to stay in place.
For Steps 1 and 2, have the children measure and cut their own squares of construction paper.
For Step 4, have them cut two 4" x 1/2" strips out of White Construction Paper and for Step 5, a 4" x 1-1/2" piece out of Green Construction Paper.
